Welcome to ArnySays!
Who are we, you ask? Well, it’s okay if you couldn’t tell from the content on this website, because we certainly don’t mind saying it: we’re all big, fat, hysterical pet lovers! And that’s what has brought us together in the creation of this platform for other pet lovers like you.
Our team is small, but it’s a passionate one. Each of us has owned pets for most of our adult lives, and many of us were born into pet-owning families. Accordingly, we all have years of experience with pets and the enduring love of animals in general.
No matter whether your animal friend is furry or scaly, we strive to provide answers to all your questions about them here.
About Our Author
Hey there! My name is Nikki Clarke, and I’m the author and main curator of ArnySays. While my team of experts is responsible for most of the research that goes into our products, all of it goes through me, and I write all of the articles you see here.
So, let me tell you a little bit about my journey. I was born and raised in Concord, New Hampshire. I had a beautiful childhood—my earliest and most precious memories all involve Lucky, my family’s golden lab. That’s probably why, even despite my love for all animals, dogs have a special place in my heart.
Lucky was so named because he was discovered by my parents when they were spending an afternoon at Hampton Beach. He was just a little puppy at the time, apparently abandoned, shivering in the fall afternoon. So, my parents picked him and brought him home.
I was born the next year. And Lucky became my best friend from that very moment. I grew up with him always by my side; wherever I went, he went. When I was sad, he was sad; when I was happy, he was over the moon!
And he got along capitally with our other pets. Before my parents adopted Lucky, they already had 2 cats, named Molly and Arthur, and a lizard called Mikey. As you can see, our family was actually more animal than human—and that set me up for a life of loving all animals.
Then, in my freshman year of high school, a lump was discovered on Lucky’s back. He wanted to play less frequently, choosing rather lie in his favorite spot in the corner of my bedroom. He began eating less, and less, and finally not at all. Our vet told us he had just a few months to live, each week of which would be increasingly painful for him.
I won’t go into the details of how I dealt with having to put Lucky down, because I still can’t. But it was a turning point in my life; one in which love for animals was revealed to its fullest extent. And since then, I’ve been following my passion.
When the time came for me to choose my undergrad major, I selected cognitive psychology, as it was a subject, I had always been interested in. But I knew that if I could excel in the field, I could end up working with some up-and-coming research groups focused on animal cognitive psychology.
And I did! I moved to the west coast to pursue my higher education; and even though I missed the beautiful snow-capped mountains and clear blue waters of my hometown, it was totally worth it.
After completing both my undergrad and post-grad degrees, I began working as a researcher at a renowned animal cognitive behavior and psychology lab.
That was where the idea of this website was born. Of course, we were all experts in animal psychology; however, our defining trait was our love for our pets. The lunchtime chatter about our pets slowly turned into an idea to create a platform for other pet owners like you where we could share our collective knowledge.
But we don’t just have experts in our midst; over the years, I’ve met so many different pet owners at dog parks across the country. They also make up an important part of the team here.
At present, my husband and I are the proud parents of 3 dogs (Laika, Petal, and Matilda), 2 cats (Ronnie and Luna), and 2 rabbits (Jim and Pam). Even though we met in sunny California, we have now moved back to my side of the country, where I work as an assistant professor at the psychology department at the University of Maine.
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember. It’s an essential and unchangeable part of me. I want nothing more than to share that part with you and help other like-minded individuals do the same. (And don’t tell anyone, but to me, pet parents are the best kind of people out there!)
So welcome to ArnySays, and I can proudly say that we won’t let you down!
What Do We Do?
The titles of the articles posted on the front page should give you an idea–our main job is to curate articles on a varied and wide range of topics all related to pet-owning, pet care, and pet supplies.
As pet parents, we know the importance of owning the right products for your pet, because every pet is different. As you already know, the right food bowl, or the right cage, or the right flea spray—can make a big difference.
We also know that sometimes it can be difficult to navigate pet parenthood, as much as we love our pets. So, we want to help you make the right choices when it comes to caring for your pet (no matter the species) by writing free informative articles for you.
Why Do We Do It?
We know how important it is for you to give your pet a good life. Unfortunately, there exists a lack of information about the right products and services available for your pets.
That’s why it’s important to us to aid pet parents in creating an enriching and fulfilling life for both themselves and their pets. Our primary goal is to help you find the best supplies available for your pet because we know ensuring their comfort is your first priority.
How Are the Products Selected?
Our main goal here is to make life with your pet safer, easier, and more fun—in conclusion, to make it that much more rewarding.
And we also know that each pet owner has unique preferences and needs, especially for species other than cats and dogs. We combine our knowledge and research to select all the products we recommend so that we can meet those unique needs.
Usually, our product recommendations are featured in lists of 10, or sometimes more. We’re fully aware that our readers come from diverse backgrounds and while some might be looking for budget products others might be on the lookout for premium items. Therefore, we recommend products fitting both categories.
How are the Posts Updated?
Thanks to the constant new innovations and developments in the pet industry; the market for good pet supplies is constantly changing. Accordingly, it’s logical for new items to emerge that will beat others in regard to quality and performance.
Accommodating these changes is an important part of helping you make the right choice for your pets. Our policy is to first wait and see how the consumers are reacting to the products.
If the consumers react to the new product positively, then we conduct our own research to make sure the product is up to the standard. And only then the product list is updated with the new product.
What is Our Source of Income?
Glad you asked! ArnySays is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. It’s a platform that helps us to earn revenues through advertising products.
In short, if you buy our recommended products through our links, we’ll get a small commission.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop us from being impartial while selecting products as we put our readers on the top of the priority list. As pet owners ourselves, we would never suggest products that are less than the best for you and your pets!
